Martin Luther King

We honor him as a legendary political leader who always held to the principles of equality and peace, following non-violent practices as he attempted to end racial discrimination. His inspiring words include:

• A man who won’t die for something, is not fit to live.

• Almost always, the creative, dedicated minority has made the world better.

• Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

• Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

• Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Here in blue Island, a ceremony is planned in honor of Dr. King at Christ Memorial united Church of Christ. In this issue, we outline that program which will be presented by Aaron Freeman, ( the PbS Television host, Writer and Actor) on Sunday, January 17th.
